I’m preparing for a camping trip today and so looking forward to being off the grid for a little R & R, turning down all the noise in my life and turning up the creative inspiration and rejuvenation!
Here’s a little encouragement to perhaps entice you to get outside, away from the computer for a bit, and find some creative solace and replenishment soon for yourselves by spending a bit of time in nature.
I’m lucky; I get to hug the tree in the picture any time I like since it lives in our front yard!

I think I’m a bit slow on responding to this as I’m almost sure you’re nearly done with your trip! But I hope it was a good one. The topic of going off the grid is a tough one for me–I led a writing retreat in a remote spot in April and while being away from the Internet and even cell phone service did me good, it also made me nervous in a strange way! I need to do it more often and get used to it.

Hiya Charlotte. I really know exactly what you mean about being anxious when cutting yourself off the Internet; I felt it too, several times during the past week. I didn’t get to detach myself as thoroughly or for as many consecutive days as I needed to.
‘The best laid plans of mice and men’ would aptly describe my experience over these last several days. I was delayed by dealing with family tensions for a day or so and needed to tend to that before leaving. Then I got hit with bad stomach flu for a few days and I was pretty much bedridden for 2 days. However, I was bound and determined to not waste the time off completely, so we left mid-week for a shortened version of our camping trip. But alas, we were met with a series of stressful and unpleasant mishaps including one sleepless night with a surprise vicious thunderstorm beating torrential rain down on us for several hours, high winds knocking the poor little trailer to and fro.
We waved the white flag at that point and returned home. There’s more to the woeful vacay tale, but I’ll spare you the details
I’ve decided I really need some rest, so I’m going to do the ‘have to’ work as early as possible each day and then try and stay offline as much as possible this week, and go away for day trips with my bicycle strapped to the back of the car (we have fabulous cycle paths in Ottawa) and spend time hugging trees, writing and reading and sleeping under trees, and dreaming my little summer dreams. I practically feel rejuvenated just typing that
Wow, what a story your trip turned into! I look forward to reading the rest of it–but only after you’ve enjoyed the rest of your time off.

Thx, Patrick, f-u-n will definitely be on top of the agenda! I love saying ‘off the grid’ now whenever it’s appropriate, ever since I learned of it from you in one of your posts
My hope is you don’t see this reply until you’re back from your trip.
You have a good memory. I repurposed that post after @JMcCannWriter said it would be a good entry for an online contest, and I won that contest! Another example of how being connected with other writers can fuel our success.

I appreciate this online community of writers and creatives more than words can say too, Patrick.

Thx, Terri!
Hey CJ … marvelous as usual. Enjoy your very well-deserved holiday. I know you’ll have fun. xo
Hi Deb! Yeah, we’re so looking forward to it. Hopefully the weather will turn around from the rainy forecast they’re predicting, but regardless it’ll be wonderful to have a break
Thanks for stopping by and for your support and feedback. Hope you get to have a vacay soon too!
Have a wonderful time recharging your personal battery!
Thanks, Laurie. ‘Tis the season to take it slower, unwind, and recharge for sure!
